These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of couplescoachjan.com (the “Site”) and to all services and products offered by Essential Skills, LLC, doing business as Jan – The Couples Coach (“we,” “us,” or “Jan”). By using the Site, buying a product, or taking part in any service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Coaching is not therapy
Jan provides relationship coaching and education. Coaching is not psychotherapy, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or medical or psychiatric treatment, and it does not diagnose or treat any mental health condition. If you are experiencing a mental health condition, abuse, addiction, or a crisis, please get help from a licensed professional. Coaching may be used alongside professional care, but it is not a replacement for it.
2. Safety
Coaching and our materials are not designed for relationships involving physical violence, threats, coercion, or fear for your safety. If you feel unsafe, please get in touch with the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use our services or purchase products.
4. Personal responsibility
You are fully responsible for your own decisions, actions, and results. We make no guarantee of any particular outcome, including the outcome of your relationship.
5. Coaching sessions and programs
Scheduling: Sessions are booked through the Site at the times offered.
Cancellations and rescheduling: Please give at least [24/48] hours’ notice to reschedule. Sessions canceled with less notice, or missed without notice, [are forfeited/are charged in full].
Late arrivals: Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time.
Program payments: Payment for multi-session programs (such as the 8-week or 12-week programs) is due [in full at booking / as agreed in writing]. Refunds for unused sessions are based on session circumstances (ie., death, moving out of area, etc.)
6. The Connection Lab and group sessions
The Connection Lab is a live group session held on Zoom. Topics, dates, and times may change, and we will notify registered participants of any changes.
Group confidentiality: Please keep anything other participants share private. We ask everyone to respect this, but we cannot guarantee how other participants will behave.
Recording: [Sessions are not recorded. / Sessions may be recorded for registered participants’ replay. Participant video and names may appear in recordings unless you turn off your camera and rename yourself.] Participants may not record sessions themselves.
Participation is optional, and you are never required to share personal information.
We may remove anyone disrespectful or disruptive, without a refund.

7. Digital products
Delivery: Digital products (PDF guides and workbooks) are delivered electronically after purchase.
No refunds: Because digital products cannot be returned, all sales are final once the file is delivered. If you have trouble accessing your download, contact us, and we will help.
Personal-use license: When you buy a digital product, you get a personal, non-transferable license to download and print it for your own use. You may not share, resell, copy, post, or distribute the materials, or use them with clients or groups, without our written permission.
8. Intellectual property
All content on the Site and in our products and sessions, including text, worksheets, graphics, logos, and program names, belongs to Essential Skills, LLC and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not reproduce or use it without written permission.
9. Privacy and confidentiality
We treat information you share in private coaching as confidential, except where disclosure is required by law or needed to prevent serious harm to you or someone else. 10. Payments
Prices are listed in U.S. dollars. Payments are processed securely by third-party processors, and we do not store your full card details. We may change prices at any time, but changes will not affect purchases you have already made.
11. Third-party services
We use third-party tools, including Zoom and payment processors. We are not responsible for their availability, security, or policies.
12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Our services and materials are provided “as is” for educational purposes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Essential Skills, LLC and Jan are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services or products. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid for the specific product or service involved.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Site means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [New York], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
